AT THE WHIPPING POST

A painful dilemma for the slave!  His owner adds to the cruelty of a whipping by not chaining the slave immobile to the whipping post, telling the slave he must show total obedience by standing there and taking the lashes his owner has ordered - and that if he does not, further lashes will be ordered.
