STILL IN TRAINING
This slave is being trained as a pony, but, as we can see, it’s still relatively early on in the process - it’s not yet lost that characteristic “white stripe” around its loins from exposure to the sun.  But evidently it is responding well to the training, as it’s been allowed out by itself on a “time trial” when it has to visit defined places in the neighborhood within strict time limits.  This serve two purposes - firstly, it strengthens and conditions its muscles, and it learns how not to get “winded” even if it has to go at a fast pace;  and secondly, it gets to learn the local geography: owners do not want to have to drive their ponies as they would a horse, by constantly guiding it with reins and so on - they want to simply command “to the station” or whatever, and have the pony determine the best route.
